Eighty two large South African companies participated in this study on strategies, practices and skills for competitiveness in the digital economy - in that manner demonstrating their willingness and commitment to contribute towards the local understanding and exploration of this topic.

Against the changing paradigm towards a progressively digitalised economy and an increasingly digitally infused society, South Africa is reported to lag behind in terms of its digital readiness.
This report is an attempt to contribute to the discourse around the digital economy and what strategies, practices and skills will be required for competitiveness.
