Advanced Industry
Experience Programme
(AIEP)

The 10-month Advanced Industry Experience Internship Programme (AIEP) at UWC is currently recruiting software development interns to start in August 2023.  This programme was previously known as the App Factory.

The target group for this initiative is more experienced software developers who lack practical or work experience. The aim is to facilitate hands-on, real-world experience through creativity and fun in a learning and working environment.

These internships form part of Samsung’s R280-million Equity Equivalent Investment Programme (EEIP), Samsung South Africa that commenced in 2019 and established a collaboration with UWC that lead to the creation of an Advanced Industry Experience Internship Programme at the University of the Western Cape’s Future-Innovation Lab.

The AEIP programme is based on supporting and guiding aspiring young software developers through an intensive experiential learning internship to employment as software developers. The AEIP applies a direct approach to skills development with real project owners, real projects and fully dedicated mentorship by experienced master software specialists directly from the industry. With the right skills and opportunities, such skilled interns can be part of driving local and global growth while achieving personal successes.

The success of the AEIP Programme speaks for itself, having achieved a 95%+ industry placement of the first three cohorts that graduated.
