Jason Fortuin

Jason Fortuin is the Operations Manager at the CoLab for e-Inclusion and Social Innovation at UWC. After growing up in socio-economically challenged Belhar, he determinedly pursued an education, completing a National Diploma and BTech degree in Human Resource Management. Jason worked for over a decade in various generalist HR roles, including staff development, recruitment and selection, organisational development, performance management and employee relations, before joining the CoLab in 2018. He regards the CoLab as a calling rather than a job.

Formally, his role includes relationship management with internal and external stakeholders and project and financial management of deliverables. While ensuring that targets and deliverables are met, he feels the positive impacts that the CoLab initiatives have on the lives of citizens are of greater importance. He finds great fulfilment in facilitating opportunities and access to digital skills, especially for those who are digitally excluded. Jason is always open to listening to team members and collaboratively solving problems and he believes that laughter is an important ingredient in a great working environment and culture.

Inspired by his experience at the CoLab, Jason hopes to add more value having completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer and Media Application (specialisation in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence)
