The Thought Leadership Series on the Digital Economy continued on the 19th of August 2016.
The fourth discussion in the series was hosted on the 19th of August at UWC as a collaborative initiative between the CoLab and EMS Faculty
The topic of the discussion: Beyond the hype of Big Data: How South African businesses apply big data for business purposes
It was presented in the form of a panel discussion with the main aim of providing an opportunity for businesses to share their experiences and application regarding data analytics.
The panel consisted of the following members: Prof. Renette Blignaut (UWC); Mark Wilson (Capitec), Andre Cloete (DataProphet), Jacobus Eksteen (Compuscan), Gareth Pritchard (BPeSA), Corey Springett (NICE), Becky Mosehle (Masana; Chair)
The session was attended by 72 people from business, government, academia and several students. The new Post-graduate Diploma in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence was announced by Prof. Visser. A brochure was distributed and Luthando Tyhalibongo planned and scheduled a marketing startegy to advertise the course.
